Summer's End

Someone else's summers looked like this.

Lucky all of you.

Could it be they were the best moments of the year?

(Posie Gets Cosy these last two pics)

Well some of the year's best, surely.

When you really think about it

 (These last two: Junkaholique)

It's all about sunshine, the tastes of sunshine

And those little moments of perfection.  Thanks to all for sharing theirs.

Thai soul food.

Hot, hot ambiance.

It is likely to expand your gastronomic horizons.

At least by your second visit - which is more or less guaranteed!

I Did Leave the House With My Camera This Summer. A Time or Two

To adventure far-ish afield

to los Jardines de Senor Fish

to Little Tokyo

(it's actually the "Far Bar" now, though I haven't been in)

cuz  Ebisu is my favorite for cold Sapporo mugs, noodles, tempura, tofu and-and.........all so yummy.

to 'Lette for macarons.....

For a little neighborhood gleaning.

And then, home again.  Where the heart is.  That's been my L.A. summer on not-quite-film!

Time to Make the Sriracha!

(Photo: Anne Cusack, LATimes)

It's that time of the year again.

Things are heating up at the Huy Fong Factory in Irwindale.  It's all good!

Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmmm

No shortage of sunshine in L.A. this summer.

I've been using lots of citrus zest to make salads special

Squash blossoms from my Lebanese-Armenian grocery store:  cheap, beautiful and fresh!
(SuperKing I love you!)

We put them on our De Sano neapolitan pizzas after (another!) Home Depot run.

What are you going to eat this weekend?

Otherwise Occupied

Here's a little

of what else

is keeping me away

from the blog.  I have a painting commission

that I'm supposed to complete in September.  Wish me luck!

My Dream Life Lately

Though my summer has been about things that are Urgent.  Important.  Necessary.  Useful.

A part of my brain still looks a whole lot like this.

I mean, when I'm able to dream.

Sleep has been fleeting lately.  Short spurts of it.  Not enough.

I need to rest.  To lose myself.

In someone else's landscape.

After all that's what summer vacation is all about at least for me............What about yours?

So Far This Week

A beautiful scarab beetle

in the garden.

The cats are so happy to be outside again.  They couldn't be while the fence was being replaced.

We've had lots of strawberries this summer.  And they were yummy.

We turned down tickets to Paul McCartney at Dodger Stadium on Sunday night but.....lying on the bed at 10 o'clock under a super moon, and hearing "Yesterday" and "And In the End...." floating live above the hills and in through the bedroom windows.........that was kind of magical.

When you're a little kid, you never imagine such a thing happening.

L.A. Two Saturdays Ago - The Renegade Craft Fair

I'd never been to one before.  A RENEGADE Craft Fair, I mean.

It was a hot-ish day in L.A.'s "Grand Park".  (I would have to give the latter an only "meh" rating, sadly.)

ANYWAY, there were food trucks.  Cuz it just doesn't happen (I mean, anything) without food trucks these days.  Am I right?

There were lovely frocks by, Brooklyn based Jamie Lau.

Groovy-cool glassware and lighting from Oakland, California's Palanquin.

I loved those dip-dye bags.  Though that little lavender rose bag on the right is still winking at me in a come hither-ish sort of way.

There were dudes and dogs galore chillin' while their girls were thrillin'.

And:  A YARN TRUCK!  Draped in crocheted lovelies!  What a great idea.

Don't you think every neighborhood should have one?  Imagine the possibilities.....hmmmmm
