Magnificent Obsession - Encaustic Tiles, Too Many Could Never Be Enough

I just love them.  I've loved them in Belgian-style beer houses

Spanish-style French houses.

Spanish houses (that I've only seen in pictures).

L.A. coffee houses.

Moroccan tchotchke shops.

Decorating magazine spreads.

I want.  I want.  I want.

I don't know how to take care of them.  I'm afraid they must be terribly heavy for the flimsy houses

we make in America.  They're already getting too expensive.

But I just adore them.  Timeless, elegant, subtle, endlessly fascinating, lively,

vivid.  So much "sabor" in these tiles!  I am desperate in my obsession.  How will I get over it?  When will something else come along that makes me just as happy?  So that I can just move on?

Is there something wrong with me that I love them so much?  Please someone, save me from myself!

  1. Nothing wrong with you AT ALL. :-) I adore these tiles too. So much. :-)

  2. I hear you on this one! Check out the photos of the recently-opened Liholiho Yacht Club here in SF... fantastic blue tiles (less elaborate than yr pix, but *blue*), plus a yellow-tiled kitchen. *Love* (

PS. Happy New Year! Happy Valentines Day!

  3. no nothing is wrong with you ... or something has to be wrong with me too :D

  4. Add me to the "please save me" list. I am fell head over heels for these tiles years ago on an interiors project. It hurts to even look at the pictures. so so so beautiful. nice selection!

  5. C'est une jolie obsession... que je comprends parfaitement ;) Ces carrelages sont comme un pont entre le passé et le présent, sous nos pieds...

  6. hey??? for the garden, what d'you think? n♥
