Corner View - Something Old, Something New........

something borrowed, something blue.......

i didn't incorporate any of these elements into my fairly non-traditional wedding.  ours only cost $300.  and we made our own wedding cake.  it was good: austrian hazelnut torte!

secret:  i got married so that my husband could get his green card.  guess what, we've been married longer than Kim Kardashian has managed.  very much longer in fact.....it's a good thing.

and we just celebrated our wedding anniversary.  but a whole life together inevitably becomes all of that.......something old, something new....doesn't it?

  5. I'm so glad your marriage is a "good thing." :-) There is no such thing as the "right way" to do things. Whatever makes you happy and helps you do what you think is right is wonderful. Wishing you many, many happy years together. :-)

  7. Love both, your pictures and your story! And do you know of what I had to think when I saw all that vintage ceramics and read about your wedding? I thought of "polternight", a german wedding tradition. It's a party celebrated just before the wedding day, where all guests smash lots of porcelain and ceramics to the ground, which is meant to bring luck (Glass and mirrors don't and are therefore not allowed!). This is why we have the German saying "Scherben bringen Glück" = shards bring good fortune). ;o)

  8. Happy Anniversary! I love the bowls in the first photo.
I made my wedding cake, too. it was a rich chocolate layer cake with gold ribbon on the outside.

  9. Well, you probably had better motives for getting married than Ms. Kardashian did. Any time a homemade hazelnut torte is involved it has to be a success, doesn't it?
