Corner View Destination; Terrain Vague

This is a post about Buenos Aires, a destination.  This is also a post about terrains vagues, the anti-destination.

I love a terrain vague.  Do you?

There is something about the openness, the emptiness, the desolation.  It gives you time to think.  And it MAKES you think.  What was here before?  Who was here before?

Who is hiding here?  And why did they come?

Will this place stay always just the way it is, or, What Will It Become?

Some people are just passing through.  Some just don't know that these places exist at all.

Often there are a lot of auto repair shops in places like this.  And Carrefours are EVERYWHERE.  Buenos Aires is no exception.   Cars and carrefours (carrefour also means "intersection" in French):  you don't need much else to get to your destination!

  4. Ah, this is why I come here! The in-between and the overlooked is where you find the truth. Reminds me of an old post where you took photos in an alleyway or small road somewhere in Paris. I knew I was hooked on your blog right then and there :^) Hooray for the in-betweens...

  5. Oh is that "vague" as "waves" or as "undefined"... I think I like both...

  7. C'est une bonne idée de choisir le terrain vague comme destination... inattendue ! J'aime beaucoup la première photo avec la vieille voiture et les tags sur les murs.

  8. Love the first picture of the car and the graffiti behind. I find that when I travel, the places that I really fall in love with are not always the most beautiful ones but often the most interesting ones. This is what I love about living in Shoreditch now as opposed to Notting Hill too. What will it become? Which direction will it take? To me, it is far more exciting and interesting, than somewhere that has already reached its zenith

  14. I was in Buenos Aires years ago, and after backpacking through the Andean countries, BA seemed at the time uninspiring, and too western. I'm so sorry I didn't explore it more.
