Corner View - M. is for (Papier) Mache

Did anyone else see these stunningly refined papier mache platters last week at Fiona's site, Cafe Cartolina?  (I've done papier mache plates, but they did not look like this!)   These are made by Flour and Fauna.   They have a sort of Palissy-meets-Escher-at-Jane-Austen's-house look, don't you think?

I can tell you nothing more about them.  Except that they would make a very nice present for somebody that you love and know well.  Or even someone you don't really know at all!  Me!  (ha-ha!)

I'll be a little late visiting you all today - but looking forward to your mmmm-mmmm Corner Views!

  6. Beautiful! It's also so kind that Janis referred us here, and then to arrive here and you are sharing the artwork of another...such a generous spirit going around, lovely momentum...:)

  8. I've always bee tempted by papier maché and what you show is beautiful. I'll have a closer look. There is even a museum of papier maché somewhere in France, they did furniture and a lot of decoration stuff in the 18th century, because it's not expensive and looks good… à bientôt!

  9. I’ve been away for a while (blissfully computer-free) and so have thoroughly enjoyed catching up with your adventures (Argentina! Gorgeous jacarandas! Yummy tofu!).

These plates are very beautiful – I particularly like no.2… Ernst Haeckel-tastic! The papier maché lends them a wonderfully delicate, ephemeral quality not found even in the finest bone china. Really lovely…
